Jim Rohn was an American entrepreneur, author, and motivational speaker who was widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the personal development industry. Perhaps that is because he literally did what he said – “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you live.”
It has taken me much to learn that, just like Jim Rohn, I too need breaks to rest and rejuvenate. I learned this the hard way – when my body, mind, and spirit gave out in the early 2000’s.
I was under so much stress, working constantly, not taking the breaks I needed, and not looking after myself. As a result, I ended up in complete burnout. It was impossible for me to reach my goals as an entrepreneur, let alone enjoy life when this happened.
This is the reason that I now take regular breaks like the one I took these last few months.
So, what specifically does rest and rejuvenation do for us as creative, film, and wellness entrepreneurs? To start this conversation this month, I’d like to suggest in general what taking some time can do:
It can provide us with the space to establish new routines. We can take the time to practice the art of mindfulness or be away from anything that could get in the way of relationship. Breaks can give us the time we need to shift our minds away from stress.
More specifically this month on what happens to our work and effectiveness when our bodies, minds, and spirits are given the chance to relax.
